The most precious of them all was Matermea, the radiant enchantress of the twin horizons. Only the frogs’ music could welcome her and set her enchantments loose upon the realms. Once she arrived, Patermeus’s other Heralds joined in—crickets, cicadas, katydids—until every corner of the forest hummed.
So you see, although The Veil did not readily reveal herself, she was no myth at all. At dusk, you could find her by following the trail of the frogs’ song.
Yet not all realms knew such harmony.
